Update: Sian Bruce - Skeet Shooting - February 2010

Sian recently returned from the Commonwealth Shooting Federation Championships held in New Delhi with a Silver Medal for the Ladies Olympic Skeet.

Although Sian was the only lady representing Scotland, the organisers allowed her to compete in the Ladies Olympic Skeet Pairs Competiton where she was awarded an individual bronze medal.

We are delighted, yet again, to congratulate Sian on her continued success.

Update on Sponsorship: Sian Bruce - Skeet Shooting - October 2009

All of the Great Britain Selection Shoots are finished for this year and Sian's rankings are 3rd Lady Great Britain and 1st Junior Lady Great Britain.

During the year Sian also achieved creditable performances at the European Junior Championships in Suhl, Germany, finishing in 10th position, the European Championships in Croatia, finishing in 11th position and the World Championships in Slovenia, finishing in 10th position.

Sian will continue to train at Auchterhouse Country Sports throughout the winter in preparation for the registered shoots which start in January.  She is also a member of Tayside and Fife Institute of Sport and participates in strength and conditioning training at the University of Dundee's sports facility.

Sian's coach has also organised a week's training in Lonato, Italy, during November in preparation for the Commonwealth Shooting Federation's Competition which will be held in Delhi, India, during February 2010.  This competition is for all shooting disciplines, therefore she will definitely compete.  However, it is not yet known if the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, taking place during October 2010, will have a full programme of disciplines.

We congratulate Sian on her achievements to date and wish her continued success in 2010.

This is a photograph of James Taylor (middle) and Skye with friends, Findlay and Natalie, potato roughing near Forfar recently.

And finally, Skye looking decidedly bored with crop walking!

Sponsorship: Sian Bruce - Skeet (Clay Pigeon) Shooting

Taypack is sponsoring Sian, from Muirhead by Dundee, as she works towards achieving her ambition of competing successfully at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi and the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

We would like to thank Sian's mother, Susan, for the following update:

2009:

The mid-winter months were generally quieter for Sian with no competitions.  However, during February and March she travelled to Doveridge and East Yorkshire shooting grounds for two 2 day training events with the Scottish Coach.

The first Great Britain Selection Shoot was held at Doveridge on the 4th and 5th of April.  Sian was in the final shoot-off and was placed sixth.

The Britannia Grand Prix was held at Southern Counties on the 18th and 19th of April.  Sian was once again in the final shoot-off and was placed fourth.

It is worth noting that unless a competition is specifically for Juniors, Sian competes with Senior and Veteran ladies.

Sian will be travelling to Suhl, Germany on the 28th of April, as a member of Team GB, taking part in the first of the International Junior Competitions.

May will be a quieter month as Sian will be sitting her Standard Grade exams, although she will continue to take part in local registered shoots and training.

Sponsorship: Dunbarney Primary School / Brig in Bloom

Martin Brown presented a cheque for £300 to the Eco Committee of Dunbarney Primary School, Bridge of Earn, for a litter bin project.  The bins were designed by the children as part of their continuing work within the Eco Flag Scheme, encouraging improvement and awareness of the environment.

The photograph shows Martin (back left) and Jim Ashton, Chairman of Brig in Bloom (back right) with the children and their designs.

Jim presented the school with a framed picture as a token of appreciation for the children's hard work in helping plant tubs and baskets in Spring 2008.
